Rams Survive Stillman to Open 26-27 Season with a Win

Duet Scores 30 as Rams take down Stillman 70-66

PHARR GYMNASIUM | MOBILE, Ala. – After a long wait, the 2026-2027 NAIA Women's Basketball season has arrived. The Mobile Rams were back on the court last night for their season opener at home as they took on the Tigers of Stillman College. It was an exciting game for those in attendance with plenty of action from both sides in a back and forth encounter that eventually saw the Rams come out on top.

Mobile looked strong in the opening quarter, creating a lead as big as ten points. Stillman would pull closer as they grew into the game with the opening ten minutes ending with the Rams ahead 17-13. In the second quarter, Stillman would hold the advantage as they would outscore the Rams to hold a 1 point advantage at the halftime break. Emilee Duet would end the quarter by knocking down a 2-point jump shot as time expired to send the crowd and her teammates into a frenzy.

In the third quarter, the Rams would regain their lead as they outscored the Tigers 19-12. Emilee Duet looked automatic during this time, shooting 5-7 from the field and making 2 of her 3 free throws, while also adding 3 steals. As the game would begin to close out with the start of the 4th quarter, the visitors would once again pull themselves back into the game as they would tie things up with 2:41 left to play. In the end, free throws would be the difference as Hannah Benoit made one to give Mobile the lead before Emilee Duet knocked down 4 in the final minute to give Mobile a 70-66 win to start the season.

Emilee Duet was the star of the show with a 30 point, 4 rebound, 2 assist, 3 steal stat line showcasing what the sophomore is capable of. Hannah Benoit was dominant on the board, grabbing 19 rebounds to lead all players in that category. Jakeya Horton had 12 points and 6 rebounds in her first start for the Rams, while Deja Pryor provided 11 points, 1 assist, and a steal in the win.
