Rams Open Up NAIA Softball Championship Opening Round with Win Over Indiana Tech

Mobile moves into winners bracket and sets up meeting with Eastern Orgeon

UM SOFTBALL FIELD | MOBILE, Ala. - The 2026 NAIA Softball Championship Opening Round got underway on Monday as the University of Mobile Rams hosted 4 other teams as they compete for a spot in the 2026 NAIA Softball National Championship World Series. Just 1 of the 5 teams competing in the Mobile bracket will advance to the final site in Columbus, Georgia, with the tournament set up in a double elimination format. The Rams had to wait until the conclusion of the first game of the day to discover their opponent, with Indiana Tech defeating Truett McConnell 5-0 in the 12:00pm CT game to set up a Mobile vs. Indiana Tech meeting in the 5:00pm CT game. The Rams came ready for that match, outhitting the Warriors 16-2 on their way to a 8-0 run rule win in 6 innings. The hosts showed no signs of slowing down throughout the game as the showcased to everyone why they are the #1 seed in the bracket.

It would be an afternoon full of RBI singles for the Rams with Gracie Mitchell getting things started in the bottom of the first on a single to center field that brought home Daryelin Rivas. Mobile would add to their lead in the third as Lillie Lanham reached first base on a bunt while Erin Degruise showed her pace as she came home for the second run. Gracie Mitchell and Lillie Lanham would team up just moments later as a faked steal from Lanham at first distracted the Warriors defense, allowing Mitchell to steal home to make it a 3-0 game. In the fifth inning it would once again be Gracie Mitchell popping up on the box score as Bethany Dean singled to right field to bring Mobile's catcher home. With a 4-0 lead heading into the sixth inning, Mobile would find their final 4 runs of the evening here as Diana Arcay and Lillie Lanham would score RBI singles to make it 6-0 before Miah Simmons put the nail in the coffin with a 2 RBI single to center field, making the final score 8-0 in favor of the Rams.

Avery Harrell continued to impress on the mound, working a complete game shutout while allowing just 2 hits. Gracie Mitchell went 4-4 on the afternoon with 3 runs and an RBI while every Ram in the batting lineup managed a hit against the Warriors defense.
