Women's Golf History

2023-24

Competed in nine tournaments throughout the 2023-24 season, with the best finish on the year coming in the season opener where the Rams placed sixth overall out of nine teams. At the SSAC Women's Golf Championship Tournament, Mobile finished tied for sixth out of eight team entrants. 

Kylie Rester, Grace Bryant, and Lora Lee Williams all earned spots as Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes during the academic year. 

2022-23:

Competed in 10 tournaments throughout the 2022-23 season, including the SSAC Women's Golf Championship Tournament where Mobile finished sixth. Best finish came in the season opening in September of 2022 where the Rams placed fourth overall at the Point SkyHawk Invitational. 

2021-22:

The UM Men's and Women's Golf teams competed in 10 tournaments during the 2021-22 season, with the men's team earning one tournament win on the year. The women's team recorded a second-place finish during the season, their best tournament finish in over three seasons.

Noah Martino, Cy Smith, and Steven Johnson from the men's team were selected as SSAC Men's Golf First-Team All-Conference nods, while freshman Grace Bryant was selected to the SSAC Women's Golf All-Freshman Team.


2020-21:

Earned three top-threes during the season including a second-place finish in the Women's Carey Collegiate Classic. Placed 6th in the three-day SSAC Women's Golf Championship Tournament.

Adi Argent and Macy Mareno were named to the SSAC All-Academic team.


2019-20:

Season was cut short due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic in the United States.

Josie Headrick and Breanna Englebert were named to the SSAC All-Academic Team.

2018-19:

Did not compete as team in the SSAC Championship. Josie Headrick was named to the SSAC All-Academic Team.

2017-18:

Finished 5th out of eight teams in the SSAC Championship. Mobile won the Spring Hill Shootout that season and secured to second-place finishes. Lindsay Lee was named to the SSAC All-Academic Team.

2016-17:

Placed 6th at the SSAC Championship. Placed second in the 2017 Badger Invitational for Mobile's best finish of the 2016-17 season.

2015-16:

Finished 5th at the SSAC Championship. Finished ranked 23rd in the NAIA Top-25. Heather Nail earned an individual bid to the NAIA National Championship and earned 3rd-Team NAIA All-America honors. Nail named All-Conference and Molly MacDermaid named All-Freshman.. 
 

2014-15:

Finished 2nd at the SSAC Championships. Heather Nail named SSAC Women's Golfer of the Year and earned an individual bid to the NAIA National Championships. She finished 17th and was named 2nd-Team NAIA All-American. Nail, Alex Moore and Kyra Plotner named All-Conference. Plotner and Kayla Whatley named All-Freshman.


2013-14:

Finished 3rd at the SSAC Championships. Heather Nail named to the SSAC All-Tournament Team, All-Conference and SSAC Freshman of the Year.


2012-13:

Finished 3rd at the SSAC Championships. Haley Mize finished tied for 1st and was named to the SSAC All-Tournament Team.
 

2011-12:

Finished 3rd at the SSAC Championships. Ann Nahl named All-Conference and Abbie Harris named All-Tournament.
 

2010-11:

Finished 3rd at the SSAC Championships. Taylor Kirby and Ann Nahl named All-Conference.


2009-10:

Maegan Rice was named 1st-Team NAIA All-American and qualified for the NAIA National Tournament for the 4th-straight year. Taylor Lee was named a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete. Rice finished 17th at nationals. She won the NAIA Unaffiliated Qualifier.
 

2008-09:

Lady Rams defeated Spring Hill to win the 2009 GCAC Championship. Mobile finished 4th at the NAIA Qualifier and missed out on the NAIA National Championships, but Maegan Rice was selected as one of 9 individual qualifiers to compete at nationals.

2007-08:

Lady Rams finished ranked #13 in the NAIA Top-25 and earned the program's 15th bid to the NAIA National Championships, where they finished 18th. Maegan Rice was named NAIA All-American for the second straight year.

2006-07:

Lady Rams finished 2nd at the Region XIII Tournament and went on to an 11th place finish at the NAIA National Championships. Maegan Rice was named a 1st Team NAIA All-American.

2005-06:

Maggie Blaylock named only the third head coach in program history.

2004-05:

The women's golf team finished in 21st place overall at the NAIA National Tournament.

2003-04:

The women's team finished in 19th place overall at the NAIA National Championship for the third consecutive year.

2002-03:

The women's team finished in 19th place overall at the NAIA National Championship Tournament for the second consecutive year.

2001-02:

The women's team finished in 19th place overall at the NAIA National Championship Tournament.

2000-01:

The women's team finished in 9th place overall at the NAIA National Championship Tournament.  Leading the way for Mobile was Apryl Watson who shot 45 over par and Leigh Ankerson who shot 46 over par.

1999-00: 

The women's team finished in fourth place overall at the NAIA National Championship Tournament. Deanne Tolbird named NAIA All-American.

1998-99:

The women's team finished ranked ninth overall in the final NAIA regular season poll and also finished in ninth place overall at the NAIA National Championship Tournament.  Deanne Tolbird was a medalist at the UNO Invitational.

1997-98:

NAIA NATIONAL CHAMPIONS: The women's team won the NAIA National Championship Tournament.  Head coach Dr. Terry Hopper was named NAIA National Coach of the Year. Fiona Young finished 8th overall at the NAIA National Championship Tournament and was named a NAIA All-American.

1996-97:

The women's team finished in second place at the NAIA National Championship Tournament. Maria Boivie, Christine Clark and Fiona Young named NAIA All-Americans.

1995-96:

The women's team finished in fifth place at the NAIA National Championship Tournament. Fiona Young named NAIA All-American.

1994-95:

The women's team finished in fourth place at the NAIA National Championship Tournament. Kathy Ziglo was the NAIA National Championship Tournament individual runner-up and finished as a NAIA All-American.

1993-94:

Mark Hall was named the first head coach of the women's golf team at the University of Mobile.  The inaugural team qualified for NAIA National Championship Tournament finished in fifth place overall in their first season.  Hannah Hell finished as the NAIA National Championship Tournament Individual runner-up and was named a NAIA All-American.  Kathy Ziglo was named a NAIA All-American.
