MOBILE, Ala. - Coming off their first win in the season opening game against Dillard University on Saturday, Oct. 23, the University of Mobile Women's Basketball was back in action on Tuesday evening as they hosted the Ave Maria University Gyrenes. Entering Tuesday's game, the Rams and Gyrenes have only met one other time in their history, a game last season that went in favor of Mobile. On Tuesday, it was the same story as Mobile defeated Ave Maria, 67-54.
In the win on Tuesday, Mobile was led offensively by Mary Denman Luker who had a great game from off the bench. Denman Luker finished with a game-high 17 points in 23 minutes of playing time. She shot 10-11 from the free-throw line and shot 3-8 from the floor. The redshirt sophomore out of Pell City, Ala. also managed three assists and three rebounds in the win.Â

Jones saw 26 minutes of playing time from off the bench and shot 4-11 from the floor. The senior McDowell shot 50% from the floor, making six baskets. McDowell led the team with 13 rebounds, 10 being defensive rebounds, as she recorded her first double-double of the year.
As a team, the Rams shot 36% from the floor and 27% from the three-point arch. Mobile also shot 59% from the free-three line and turned the ball over 20 times, all numbers that Mobile Head Coach Erika Stuckman hopes to see her team improve on going forward. The Rams did manage 13 steals in the win, a great number for the Mobile defense. Mackenzie White led the team with three steals while five other players for Mobile recorded two steals.Â
