MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile Women's Basketball team managed to get back into the win column on Saturday, Jan. 29 after falling in their previous two games earlier in the week. Mobile defeated conference foe Blue Mountain College Saturday in Pharr Gymnasium, 73-66 and improve their overall season record to 11-6 and 5-4 in SSAC action with the win.
Breannah McCullah and Erica Jones shined in Saturday's win, as McCullah led all scorers with 21 points from off the bench and Jones picked up a double-double. McCullah played just 25 minutes and shot 10-14 from the floor in the victory while adding five rebounds and one assist. McCullah has now recorded double-digit point totals from off the bench in back-to-back games.
Erica Jones scored 14 points in Mobile's win and led all players with 14 rebounds, giving Jones her first double-double of the season. Five of Jones' 14 rebounds were offensive rebounds as she played 33 minutes.
MacKenzie White and Mary Denman Luker joined McCullah and Jones with double-digit point totals as White scored 12 points and Denman Luker finished with 10 points. Sidney Sims was one point and one rebound shy of her own double-double and led Mobile with two blocks in the win.
As a team, Mobile dominated the rebound battle as the Rams managed to out-rebound the Toppers, 49-24. Mobile scored 17 second-chance points and shot 48% from the floor and 66% from the free-throw line.
Mobile's next game is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 3 with a huge conference game against Loyola University. The game will be played in Pharr Gymnasium and is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. CT.
