MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The fourth-ranked Rams of the University of Mobile Men's Soccer program returned to action on Saturday evening, Oct. 15 and managed a 4-0 shutout victory over the Faulkner Eagles in Montgomery. Mobile's win against Faulkner improves the overall record on the 2022 season to 11-1-1, while the conference record advances to 5-1 with two regular season matches remaining on the schedule.
Rams Victorious After Big Second Half
On a beautiful Fall evening in central Alabama, the Mobile Rams and Faulkner Eagles met for the first time during the 2022 season and remained scoreless through the first 45 minutes of the match. In the first half, Mobile managed four shots, while allowing just one shot to the opposition.
Following the scoreless first half, the Rams quickly got on the scoreboard after the break in the 51st minute following Carlos Segovia's first goal of the season. A minute and a half later, the Rams extended the lead in the 52nd minute following Ivan Jolivet's first score on the year.
With Mobile up 2-0, the Rams added on with two insurance goals in the 65th minute, one by Segovia, and the other my Lucas Ros. The goal for Segovia hands the Asuncion, Paraguay native his first multi-goal match of the year, while Ros' goal gives him a team-leading nine goals on the year. Mobile went on to win the match, 4-0.
Defensively, Mobile played a stellar match, allowing just two Faulkner shots. The Rams took 15 shots total, 11 coming in the final 45 minutes. Both of Faulkner shots were on goal, but saved by the Mobile starting goalkeeper Ty Turner, who earned the shutout win.
Top 25 Showdown on Deck
No. 4 Mobile will return to action next Saturday, Oct. 22 for Homecoming 2022 where the Rams will host conference rival William Carey at 7:30 p.m. CT. Next Saturday's match features two ranked teams in the NAIA as William Carey currently sits at No. 12 in the country.
