MOBILE, Ala. - On Senior Day 2022, the University of Mobile Volleyball team came away with a dominating victory over conference foe Brewton-Parker College on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 29, winning their fourth-straight match. Mobile defeated Brewton-Parker 25-13, 25-9, and 25-10 in Saturday's sweep, winning their 20th victory of the season in the final match in Pharr Gymnasium until next year. Mobile improves to 26-0 all-time against Brewton-Parker, having never lost a set in all 26 matches played dating back to 2006. The Rams' overall record improves to 20-9 with a 11-5 conference record as Brewton-Parker falls to 1-22 and 1-15 in SSAC action.
Senior Day for UM Volleyball
Prior to Saturday's match, two graduating seniors were honored for Senior Day as Mobile Head Jon Campbell and assistant coach Amber Campbell presented Abby Andrews and Madison Bergeron with flowers and gifts. Both Andrews and Bergeron received warm ovations in front of the home faithful, including by family and close friends who were in attendance. Saturday's match for Andrews and Bergeron was their final match in Pharr Gymnasium of their collegiate careers as both seniors put together nice afternoons on the court against the Barons of Brewton-Parker.
For Madison Bergeron, the fifth-year senior started the match with 16-straight serves against the Barons as Mobile went on a 16-0 run to begin Saturday's match. During Bergeron's 16-straight serves, she collected four service aces, which was a match-high. Bergeron added one dig to her afternoon and has surpassed 800 digs and 100 aces throughout her collegiate career.
Abby Andrews notched three aces against the Barons and added five kills. Through three matches on the week, Andrews finished with a whopping 18 service aces and 29 total kills during Mobile's 3-0 week. Additionally, the fourth-year senior finished second on the team with nine digs in Saturday's match. Andrews will have an opportunity to earn the SSAC's Attacker of the Week honor following her impressive week.
Overall, the Rams finished with a .274 hitting percentage on the afternoon as a team, collecting 36 kills on 84 attack attempts. Layton Adams led all players on Saturday with nine kills and a .538 hitting percentage and led the Rams with 11 digs. She recorded seven assists in the process. In the Rams' 6-2 offense, Tatum Beech finished with 23 assists on Saturday.
Defensively, Mobile finished the afternoon with 38 team digs and came away with 15 blocking assists, led by Jordan Wood with four.
Two Regular Season Matches Remain
With the home portion of the 2022 schedule in the books, Mobile returns to action on the road next weekend with two matches to conclude the regular season. Mobile faces Talladega College on Friday, Nov. 4 at 6:00 p.m. CT in Talladega, Ala., and will follow that match on Saturday, Nov. 5 with a 12:00 p.m. CT match against Life University in Marietta, Ga.
The SSAC Volleyball Championship Tournament in Montgomery, Ala. is set to begin on Nov. 10.
