Rams Grab Road Win Over Middle Georgia State Saturday Afternoon

Mobile Earns Much-Needed Win Over Knights of Middle Georgia State in Cochran, Ga.

COCHRAN, Ga. - The University of Mobile Women's Basketball team earned a very important conference win over Middle Georgia State on Saturday, Feb. 12 in Cochran, Ga. as the Rams defeated the Knights 72-66 to remain tied in for fourth place in the current SSAC Women's Basketball standings. Mobile has a total of three games remaining, with one being against Stillman College, a team Mobile is tied in the standings with. As the regular season comes to a close, seeding in the upcoming conference basketball tournament becomes very important.

In the win on Saturday afternoon, Mobile's Sidney Sims and Erica Jones tallied 18 points and five rebounds each in the game. Sims played 36 of the 40 minutes played against Middle Georgia State while Jones played 26 minutes. The pair were the game's leading scorers.

Breannah McCullah also had a nice game against the Knights, recording a double-double in the win. McCullah played a total of 33 minutes and scored 12 points while grabbing 10 rebounds. McCullah led Mobile in assists (7) and was responsible for all four of Mobile's blocks in the victory. She also mixed in one steal.

As a team, Mobile shot well, recording a 42% shooting percentage while making five three-point attempts. The Rams out-rebounded Middle Ga. St. 35-31 and forced 12 turnovers while committed 17 turnovers themselves. Mobile scored 13 points off turnovers and managed 30 points in the paint.

The Rams hault a two-game skid with the win as Mobile's overall record improves to 13-8 and 7-6 in conference play.

Mobile is scheduled for a Valentine's Day date with Stillman College at 5:30 p.m. CT in Pharr Gymnasium on Monday evening, a game that could arguably be considered as one of the most important on the season.
