MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The University of Mobile Men's Basketball team saw their 2021-22 season come to an end on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 24 in Montgomery, Ala. as Mobile fell to the Stillman College Tigers, 82-79. Thursday's quarterfinal game between the fourth-seeded Tigers of Stillman and the No. 5 seed of Mobile was all about offensive runs as both teams traded runs throughout the entirety of the game. Stillman's big 46-point first half set the tone of the game heading into the second half where the Rams managed a late rally, but missed a game-tying three point shot as time expired.
Mobile trailed Stillman 46-34 at halftime on Thursday, but managed to score 45 points in the second half alone to cut the Stillman deficit. In the final minute of the game, Mobile rode a 7-3 run on the Tigers and recorded a steal with just two seconds left to take the final shot. Joshua Williams missed the game-tying three point shot off the glass following Gary Jefferson's steal and Stillman survived a late run by the Rams to advance.
In the loss, true freshman and SSAC Men's Basketball Freshman of the Year DaMariee Jones led all scorers with 27 points, shooting 9-10 from the floor and making nine of 12 free-throw attempts. Jones also finished with a team-high eight rebounds while playing a total of 39 minutes.
In his final game as a Ram, senior Gary Jefferson finished with 20 points and three rebounds and Joshua Williams tallied 14 points, a team-high eight assists, and two boards. As a team, the Rams shot well at 54% from the floor and was 19-26 from the free-throw line. Mobile out-rebounded Stillman 32-23, but committed a costly amount of turnovers with 18 in the game which allowed 22 Stillman points off turnovers. 
The Rams finish the 2021-22 season with a 14-17 overall record while finishing with a 8-10 conference record. For the Rams and Mobile Head Coach Darnell Archey, the team will travel home to Mobile, Ala. on Thursday evening from Montgomery and turn their attention to the offseason and the upcoming 2022-23 season beginning in October of 2022. The Rams are set to return every player on the roster from this year with the exception of graduating senior Gary Jefferson.
