MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile Men's and Women's Tennis teams concluded the home portion of the 2022 schedule on Tuesday evening, Apr. 12 with non-conference matches against crosstown rival Spring Hill College at the Gerald Wallace Tennis Center. The Rams claimed two victories in front of the home crowd, with the women's team earning a 7-0 sweep and the men's team winning in a close match, 4-3. Following the Tuesday victories over the Badgers, graduating seniors from both teams were honored for the senior day and were presented gifts by head coach Uwe Tittl.
Both teams entered Tuesday ranked inside the NAIA Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll, with the men's team sitting at No. 19 and the women's team at No. 24. However, the NAIA released the most recent poll on Wednesday morning, Apr. 13 that saw the men's team fall one spot to No. 20 and the women's team jump two spots to No. 22.

In the women's match on Tuesday evening, the Rams won convincingly over the Badgers, claiming a victory in every match played. Mobile took all three doubles matches for the lone doubles point and followed that with six-straight singles match wins.
In doubles play, Maria Jose Reynaldo Toledo and Melody Holcomb were named as Mobile's No. 1 seed and swept the opposition, 6-0. Mobile's second-seeded pair of Sofija Hrovat and Alina Schweizer earned a 6-2 victory over their opponents, while Emily John and Luana Wild claimed a 6-1 win from the third flight.
Later in singles play, Mobile cruised and never saw a Badger win more than three sets in any match played on Tuesday. Maria Jose Reynaldo Toledo earned a 6-0, 6-3 win from the first flight and Emily John grabbed a 6-0, 6-1 victory as Mobile's fifth seed. Both Luana Wild and Alina Schweizer earned 6-2, 6-3 wins over their opponents as Mobile's third and fourth seeds, while Sofija Hrovat won 6-3, 6-1 in the second-seeded match. Finally, Melody Holcomb dominated and won from the sixth flight 6-0, 6-0, being Mobile's only complete sweep in the match.
With the 2022 regular season over, the Rams will turn their attention to preparing for the upcoming SSAC Women's Tennis Championship Tournament on April 21-23 at the Lagoon Park Tennis Center in Montgomery, Ala. The 22nd-ranked Rams will enter the conference tournament with a 9-4 overall record and 2-2 conference record.

M TEN Recap - (20) Mobile 4, Spring Hill 3
The 20th-ranked Rams battled the Badgers in a close match on Tuesday, winning by just one to end the 2022 regular season on a high note.
To start off the afternoon, Mobile worked hard to take all three doubles matches over Spring Hill. Boris Klingebiel partnered with Aoi Kambara from the first flight in doubles play and earned a 6-4 victory. Nicolas Mougaillard and Santiago Diloreto followed that with a 6-4 victory over their own from the second flight. Mobile's third-seeded pair of Sergio Ruiz Ramiro and Santiago Reina claimed a 7-6 (7-2) tiebreaker win over their opponents for the Rams' doubles sweep.
In singles action, the Rams needed to win at least three of six matches to earn the match victory. Nicolas Mougaillard earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory as the Mobile No. 2 seed on Tuesday. Joao Pedro Okano, who is normally Mobile's second seed, was not in the lineup.
In the fourth-seeded match, Santiago Diloreto won his match 6-4, 6-0 for Mobile's second singles win. The Rams fell to the Badgers in the first, third, and fifth flights of singles play as it came down to the sixth-seeded match that featured Aoi Kambara. Kambara managed to win his singles match 6-3, 6-3 as the sun sat over the horizon, giving Mobile their ninth win of the year.
Mobile finishes the regular season with a 9-3 overall record and 3-1 conference record. The Rams will travel to Lagoon Park Tennis Center in Montgomery, Ala. on Apr. 21-23 for the SSAC Men's Tennis Championship Tournament for the next matches on the schedule.
