HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The 2022 University of Mobile Women's Outdoor Track and Field team won the 2022 SSAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday, Apr. 23, which marks the second-straight season that saw the Rams come out on top at the conference meet. Mobile tallied 238.5 points to secure their second consecutive conference title.
Additionally, the University of Mobile Men's Outdoor Track and Field team took home third overall out of eight competing teams with 86 total points. During the men's conference championship, the team of Joseph Moses III, Devin Christopher, Jaleel Murphy, and Kevin Richardson took home first overall in the 4x100 relay, while qualifying for the upcoming NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala.

SSAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Notables; Mobile Champs Again
- Mobile grabbed the top five spots in the javelin, three of the top five spots in the 100m, and the top three spots in the 200m.
- The Rams also managed to earn the top spot in the shot put, hammer and discus this weekend, giving the team a total of six first-place finishes.
- Fedra Florentin set the new conference championship record in the shot put with a mark of 13.77 meters, blowing past the previous record of 12.43 meters set in 2013.
- Florentin's shot put mark also broke the National U23 record and school record at UM.
- The team of Shawnessy Edwards, Kari Watts, Rayvion Williams, and Jhanya Quinones qualified for the upcoming NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in the 4x400 Relay, while setting a new school record with a time of 3:53.58.

Following the SSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship meet, the Rams will return to Hattiesburg, Miss. on Friday, May 13 for the Carey Last Chance meet. The Carey Last Chance is the final opportunity for a Ram to qualify for nationals this season.
Mobile, led by head coach Andy Canegitta, has seen a total of 17 Rams to qualify for this year's national championship meet in Gulf Shores. NAIA Nationals is set for May 25-27, 2022.
