MACON, Ga. - The University of Mobile Volleyball team got back into the win column on Friday night, Sept. 23 in Macon, Ga. with a victory over Middle Georgia State University. Friday's win came in the form of a sweep for the Rams, making it the 11th straight-set sweep in 12 victories during the 2022 season. Mobile's overall record on the year improves to 12-5, while their conference record moves to 4-1.
Rams Make Quick Work of the Knights Behind Solid Offense
It was all Mobile on Friday, as the Rams managed to defeat Middle Georgia St., 25-19, 25-18, 25-11. Mobile tallied 43 kills across the three sets played, while tallying an impressive .582 team hitting percentage. Middle Georgia St. only connected with 20 kills, committing 22 attack errors, and recorded a team hitting percentage in the negatives at -.047.
Following a tough loss last week to Faulkner on the road, Mobile Head Coach Jon Campbell focused on consistent offense in this week's team practices, and Friday's win showed signs of encouraging improvement. With a minimum of three attack attempts, Mobile saw three players record a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage against Middle Georgia State. Brinkley Hearn, Aleah Kennedy, and Kendel Lee Frazer all hit perfect on the box score, with Hearn and Kennedy tallying four kills each. Frazer finished the night with three kills.
Jordan Wood and Layton Adams also shined offensively on Friday night, as both players led the Rams with nine kills each, while both hitting .800 on the dot. Abby Andrews hit .500 in the win, recording seven total kills.
Tatum Beech led all players in Friday's match with 19 assists, followed by Layton Adams with 12. On the defensive side, the Rams tallied 23 total digs, being led by Lexi Gillette and Abby Andrews with five a piece.
Back to Work on Saturday
Mobile has a quick turnaround on Saturday, Sept. 24 as the Rams will travel to Mount Vernon, Ga. for a 12:00 p.m. CT match against Brewton-Parker College. Saturday's match is a conference match between Mobile and the Barons.
