Mobile Tallies 13th Sweep of Season Following Friday Night Victory Over Talladega

Rams Return Home and Cruise Past Talladega

MOBILE, Ala. - In the University of Mobile Volleyball team's return home to Pharr Gymnasium on Friday, Sept. 30, the Rams swept the Tornadoes of Talladega College for the team's third-straight win. Additionally, the sweep on Friday is Mobile's third-straight in conference play and is the 13th sweep of the season in 14 victories. The win propels Mobile's overall record to 14-5, with a conference record of 6-1.

Offense Shows Out in Second and Third Sets

After a slow start offensively for Mobile in set one, the Rams turned it on in the second and third set to sweep Talladega. Despite hitting just .154 as a team following Mobile's 25-13 set one win, the Rams hit a stellar .500 in set two and .391 in set three to win the match. Mobile won set two 25-16 and finished the match with a 25-13 set three win.

Overall, Mobile collected 37 total kills in 81 attacks, committing just eight attack errors. Senior Abby Andrews led the way for Mobile with 10 kills, being the only player on either team to finish with double-digit kill totals. She hit .421 in the win. Freshman Corrina Porch-Maxey and junior Brinkley Hearn also had nice offensive showings in Friday's win, with Porch-Maxey collecting seven kills off a .400 hitting percentage and Hearn finishing with six kills while hitting .667.

In addition to some of the Mobile regulars playing well on the offensive side, Mobile Head Coach Jon Campbell saw opportunity to play some of his younger reserves. Dazsha Dean, Emily Osborne, and Jennifer Cope all got playing time and tallied multiple kills each against Talladega. Dean tallied two kills in three attempts, while both Osborne and Cope finished the match with three kills each.

Tatum Beech and Layton Adams continued to lead Mobile in the assist category on Friday, with Beech leading all players with 17 assists. Adams tallied 15. Mobile libero Lexi Gillette led the Rams with 11 total defensive digs, while the next highest total on the team was six (Tatum Beech). Additionally, Beech led Mobile with four service aces as the team finished with 10 on the night.

Another Conference Match Tomorrow

The Rams will get some early rest following the sweep over Talladega on Friday and get set for an afternoon matchup with Life University on Saturday, Oct. 1. Saturday's match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CT against the SSAC's newest member Life, and is just the third meeting all-time between the two programs.
