SSAC Announces Seventh Slate of Games of the Week Featuring Two University of Mobile Weekend Matches

UM Men's Soccer, Volleyball Saturday Matches Featured as SSAC Games of the Week

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The SSAC announced the seventh slate of 2023-24 SSAC Games of the Week, presented by Herff Jones, with two University of Mobile teams being featured. 

The conference office announced that Saturday afternoon's volleyball match featuring Mobile versus Loyola University (La.) has been tabbed as the SSAC Volleyball Game of the Week, while the SSAC Men's Soccer Game of the Week features No. 9 Mobile and No. 6 William Carey University (Miss.) that same evening. Both matches are road games for the Rams, with volleyball traveling to New Orleans, La. and men's soccer traveling to Hattiesburg, Miss.
 
Volleyball: Saturday, Oct. 21 | 2:00 p.m. CT | Mobile at Loyola | New Orleans, La.
  • Loyola sits in second place in the current SSAC standings at 9-1, while the Rams are fourth at 7-3 in conference play.
  • For the Rams, Corrina Porch-Maxey averages 3.15 kills/s and 1.2 digs/s and Aleah Kennedy averages 1.5 kills/s and 0.7 blocks/s, with a .263 attack percentage. Jordan Wood leads all hitters with a .300 attack percentage, while Layton Adams averages 5.4 assists and 2.6 digs per set and Tatum Beech carries a 4.7 assist/s line entering Saturday.
  • For the Wolf Pack, Amaya Bazemore averages 2.4 kills/s and 1.06 blocks/s while attacking at a .389 clip. Simone Tyson averages 2.4 kills/s and 2.8 digs/s and Emily Sheperis averages 1.9 kills/s and 0.9 blocks/s.

Men's Soccer: Saturday, Oct. 21 | 4:00 p.m. CT | Mobile at William Carey | Hattiesburg, Miss.
  • Mobile and William Carey are battling for the SSAC Regular Season Championship on Saturday. The Crusaders currently sit at No. 1 with 24 points, while the Rams are second in the conference standings with 22 points.
  • Mobile enters Saturday with an 8-2-2 overall record, while William Carey has managed a 13-2-1 record.
  • For the Rams, Zacharia Hasler has four goals to lead Mobile, while Jman Dieng and Darlinton Aboagye has scored three. Defensively, Ty Turner has allowed only eight goals in 12 starts in goal and helped Mobile break the all-time program record in consecutive shutouts this season.
  • For the Crusaders, Jamie Wynne has 19 points on seven goals and five assists, while Caoimhin McConnell has seven goals and three assists. In goal, Andreas Kokoska has allowed only seven goals in 16 starts.
  • Both Mobile and William Carey currently rank inside the top 10 of the latest NAIA Men's Soccer Top 25 Coaches' Ratings.
