Mobile Stays Undefeated with Wednesday Evening Victory Over Non-Divisional Opponent

Rams Take Down Birmingham Southern on the Road on Wednesday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Mobile Women's Basketball team, led by first-year head coach Sydney Westry, improved to 4-0 on the 2023-24 season on Wednesday, Nov. 8, defeating Birmingham Southern University (Ala.) on the road, 79-61. The win for the Rams is already the third victory on the road this season, with Mobile scoring at least 20 points or more in three of the four quarters played. Mobile is scheduled to play one more road game next on the schedule ahead of the beginning of conference play at home next Thursday.

Game Recap: Rams Stay Unbeaten

Mobile came out strong against Birmingham Southern, a NCAA D-III member, scoring 24 points across the first quarter alone. The Rams added 15 points in the second quarter, while holding the Panthers to less than 15 points in each quarter in the first half. Mobile led 39-25 at the break.

In the second half, Mobile continued the strong game against Birmingham Southern, scoring 20 points each in the third and fourth quarters. The Panther offense sparked some, managing 36 points in the final 20 minutes, including 20 points alone in the fourth. However, Mobile's consistency proved to be too much in the end for Birmingham Southern as the Rams managed an 18-point victory.

Erica Jones led all players with 20 points in the win for Mobile, adding 10 rebounds for a double-double. Braylee McMath followed Jones with 18 points in the win, coming away with five assists and two steals and MacKenzie White tallied 15 points from off the bench, leading the game with a total of seven steals. As a team, the Rams came away with a whopping 18 steals, while shooting 38% from the floor.

For the Panthers, Birmingham Southern coughed up 29 turnovers and shot 41% from the field.

Mobile Heads to Tuskegee

The Rams are scheduled for another non-divisional road game next on the schedule, coming on Monday, Nov. 13 against Tuskegee University (Ala.) in Tuskegee, Ala. Next Monday's game is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. CT.
