Noah Miller's First Collegiate Goal Leads Mobile to 1-0 Victory Over Blue Mountain Christian

Rams Earn Thursday Night Win as Freshman Noah Miller Notches First Score

THE JUNGLE SOCCER COMPLEX | MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile Men's Soccer team, ranked No. 11 in the NAIA, played the first home conference match of the 2023 season on Thursday night, Sept. 21, hosting Blue Mountain Christian University (Miss.) in the process. Prior to the match, Mobile welcomed former Ram standout and MLS star Michael Azira back to the Jungle as Azira took over the helm of the Blue Mountain Christian Men's Soccer program over the summer.

In Thursday's match between Mobile and Blue Mountain, it was the Rams who prevailed to a 1-0 victory, improving to 3-2-2 this season and 2-0-1 in conference play.

Match Recap: Goal No. 1 for the Freshman Local

Defense was on display throughout the first half of the match as the game remained scoreless through the first 45 minutes. Mobile managed just five shots in the first half, while allowing Blue Mountain no shots. In total, Blue Mountain could only muster one shot throughout the entire match against the Rams on Thursday.

In the second half, freshman Noah Miller broke the scoreless bout as the Daphne, Ala. native notched his first collegiate goal in the 56th minute after dribbling the ball past three Blue Mountain defenders. Miller's strike came from a foot outside of the box and was lasered past the Blue Mountain goalkeeper to the bottom left corner of the net. Miller's goal eventually went down as the only goal of the match as the Rams topped the Toppers with a 1-0 victory.

Overall, Mobile finished Thursday night's match with 16 shots, five being on target. Meanwhile, the Mobile back line of Adam Cooil, Henrique Luro Mendes, Joaquin Rivera and Salia Carr held Blue Mountain to just one off-target shot throughout the match, keeping Mobile goalkeeper and reigning SSAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Ty Turner from having to work much in the shutout win.

Back to Work on Saturday

Mobile returns to the pitch on Saturday evening, Sept. 23, hosting one of the SSAC's newest members in the University of Tennessee Southern. Saturday's match at the Jungle is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. CT.
