Cross Country Competes in UAH Invitational Over the Weekend

UM Cross Country Teams Compete in Largest Meet of Regular Season

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The University of Mobile Men's and Women's Cross Country teams competed in the annual UAH Chargers Invitational in north Alabama over the weekend, with over 30 schools entering one of the largest cross country meets during the regular season. In the men's 8k, the Rams placed 17th overall out of 35 teams, while the women's 6k saw Mobile place 27th out of 34 team entrants. Chico State (Cal.) eventually won the men's race, with Pittsburg State (Kan.) claiming the women's race victory.

On the men's side, Mobile tallied 525 points as a team, recording a total time of 2:09:21. Joey Jones paced the Rams in the 8k with a time of 25:16.7. He finished 75th overall out of 345 individual competitors. In the women's race, Claire Atkins led the way for Mobile with a 160th-place finish out of 279 racers. Mobile earned 765 points in the women's 6k, finishing with a total time of 2:06:07.

Next Up

The Rams head west to Clinton, Miss. on Friday, Oct. 18 for the annual Watson Collegiate XC Classic, hosted by Mississippi College. This year's Watson XC Classic marks the final regular season race for both teams at Mobile as the SSAC Cross Country Championships loom on Nov. 8 in Oakville, Ala.
