Rams Dominate the Eagles in Season Opener

Rams Showcase New Talent

H. AUSTILL PHARR GYMNASIUM - MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile women's basketball team opened its season with a commanding victory against Pensacola Christian, winning 75-51 at the H. Austill Pharr Gymnasium. With this win, Mobile improves to 1-0 while Pensacola Christian falls to 1-1.

The game began with a strong performance from the Mobile offense, led by Alanna Donaldson, who scored 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Braylee McMath added 17 points, contributing significantly to Mobile's early lead. The Rams jumped out to a 20-9 lead at the end of the first quarter, showcasing their defensive prowess and offensive efficiency.

As the game progressed, Mobile maintained control, outscoring Pensacola Christian in every quarter. The second quarter saw the Rams extend their lead to 22 points, finishing the half with a score of 42-20. The third quarter was highlighted by a strong performance from MacKenzie White, who recorded crucial rebounds and assists, aiding Mobile's offensive flow. By the end of the third, Mobile held a commanding 60-35 advantage.

Despite Pensacola Christian's efforts to mount a comeback, which included a steady offensive performance, the Rams' defense proved too tough. Mobile dominated in the paint, outscoring Pensacola 32-18 and capitalizing on turnovers with 30 points off mistakes from the opposition.

The final quarter saw Mobile maintain its lead, with key contributions from Lindi Debilzan and Mariona Pontnou, who each scored eight points. The Rams secured the victory with a final score of 75-51, capping off a strong performance that featured contributions from the entire roster.

Notably, Mobile's bench also made an impact, scoring 19 points compared to Pensacola Christian's 11.

The next challenge for the University of Mobile will be to build on this momentum as they prepare for their upcoming game, aiming to continue their winning ways early in the season.
