Men's and Women's Bowling Begins 2024-25 Season in Tuscaloosa

Rams Find Success During Opening Weekend

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Mobile Bowling teams opened the 2024-2025 season in Tuscaloosa, Ala. over the weekend, competing at the Ball in Fall tournament hosted by Stillman College (Ala.). Both the men's and women's team competed in two total tournaments on the weekend, starting on Saturday afternoon.

On day one, Mobile saw both bowling teams secure second-place finishes to begin the season, with the women's team falling by just four pins (4,486) to crosstown rival Spring Hill College (Ala.). On the men's side, Mobile racked up 4,886 pins on Saturday, also trailing Spring Hill who eventually won the event. The University of Alabama and Stillman trailed both Mobile and Spring Hill in both tournaments.

Madison Bruner highlighted day one individually, winning the women's competition with a score of 1,035. Bruner averaged 207 pins across five games bowled, with her best game of the day coming in game four where she bowled a 232. She was followed by Sierra Knight in third, totaling a score of 909. 

Samuel Olson was Mobile's highest finisher in the men's tournament, placing second overall. Olson totaled a score of 1,126 across the five games, averaging 225.2 pins per game. Joshua Norris and Max Woodall followed Olson with top-five finishes, placing fourth and fifth overall. Norris bowled a 1,007, while Woodall followed by just two pins. Both averaged 201 pins per game.

On Sunday, the four men's and women's bowling programs met again for a separate tournament. On the men's side, Mobile eventually claimed the second win in program history. The Rams scored a 5,186 to secure the first-place finish, with second-place finisher Spring Hill totaling a 4,710. In the women's tournament, Mobile placed second for the second consecutive day, following Spring Hill. Mobile scored a 4,297 to wrap up the weekend action. Individual results were not recorded on day two of this year's Ball in the Fall.

What's Ahead

After a solid start to the season for both the men's and women's teams at Mobile, the Rams are set to return to action on Oct. 26-27, competing in two tournaments at the Smyrna Bowling Center in Smyrna, Tenn. The Mid-South Conference will host both tournaments across Saturday and Sunday, beginning with the MSC Greater Nashville Open on Saturday. The annual MSC Brandon Burns Memorial will follow on Sunday.
