MONTGOMERY, Ala. - William Crowe and Karolina Mrowiecova of the University of Mobile Women's and Men's Tennis programs have swept the SSAC M&W Tennis Player of the Week honors, with William Crowe being named SSAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week and Karolina Mrowiecova being named SSAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday, Feb. 13. The awards are based on performance for the week of Feb. 5-11.
Sophomore Karolina Mrowiecova and first-year Ram William Crowe were named the SSAC Tennis Players of the Week after Mobile grabbed two victories across the state of Mississippi on Feb. 9, with both teams defeating Mississippi University for Women and Belhaven University (Miss.). Both MUW and Belhaven are members of the NCAA DIII and saw their matches end in shutout losses against the Rams. Mrowiecova and Crowe played as Mobile's top seeds in both matches, helping guide the Rams to the pair of wins.
On the women's side, Mobile started the day with a 6-0 win over MUW in Columbus, Miss. for the team's first victory of the 2024 season. Later that afternoon in Jackson, Miss., Mobile knocked off Belhaven 9-0 to improve to 2-1 overall on the young 2024 campaign. The Rams never lost a set against the Owls of MUW, while losing just four sets total against Belhaven. Mobile currently ranks No. 18 in the NAIA Women's Tennis Top 25. For the men's team at Mobile, the Rams opened their 2024 season on Feb. 9, grabbing the two wins in the process. Similar to the women's results, both matches ended in shutouts for Mobile, with the Rams earning a 7-0 win over MUW and later recording a 9-0 win over Belhaven. Mobile, who opens the season ranked No. 24 in the NAIA Men's Tennis Top 25, improves to 2-0 to open the year and is scheduled for a date against crosstown rival Spring Hill College (Ala.) next on the schedule. Both tennis teams at Mobile are scheduled to face Spring Hill this upcoming Friday, Feb. 16 at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala. for a 1:00 p.m. CT start.
William Crowe (Mobile – SO – Paris, France)
- This is his first-career weekly honor.
- Crowe went 4-0 individually in a pair of wins on the week at No. 1 singles and doubles.
- Against Belhaven, he rallied for a 5-7, 6-2, 10-5 win in singles and won 8-5 in doubles.
Karolina Mrowiecova (Mobile – SO – Havirov, Czech Republic)
- This is her first-career weekly honor.
- Mrowiecova went unbeaten at No. 1 singles and doubles in a pair of wins for Mobile.
- She won 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.
