UM Tennis Program Celebrates Senior Day; Cruises Past Rival Spring Hill College in Regular Season Finale

Rams Defeat Badgers in Tuesday Matchups at Gerald Wallace Tennis Center

GERALD WALLACE TENNIS CENTER | MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile Men's and Women's Tennis teams wrapped up the regular season portion of the 2024 schedule on Tuesday evening, Apr. 9, hosting area rival Spring Hill College at home in the process.

Prior to the start of both the men's and women's matches, Mobile Head Coach Uwe Tittl honored three graduating seniors for Senior Day in front of a large gathering of fans. Seniors honored were Joao Pedro Okano and Alex Verdu from the men's tennis team, and Luana Wild from women's tennis. Each student-athlete were presented with a picture frame from their time at the University of Mobile.

Doubles play kicked off Tuesday afternoon's action across both matches, with Mobile earning the doubles point on both the men's and women's side. On the men's side, Mobile swept Spring Hill in all three doubles matches, while the women's team secured two of the three doubles matches played. The men's team continued their dominance in singles play by winning each singles match against Spring Hill, eventually claiming the match win, 7-0. All but one match were two-set victories for the Rams.

In singles action during the women's match, Mobile claimed wins in the first, fourth, fifth, and sixth flights to secure a 5-2 match victory. Spring Hill managed two-set wins across the second and third-seeded matches to avoid a shutout.

Overall, the men's team at Mobile finishes the regular season with a 16-2 overall record, while the women's team ends the regular season with a 14-5 overall record.
