Men's & Women's Tennis Teams Set for 2024 NAIA National Tournaments on Tuesday

Mobile Tennis Teams to Compete in First-Round Matches on Tuesday

MOBILE TENNIS CENTER | MOBILE, Ala. - The NAIA Men's and Women's Tennis National Championship Tournaments are scheduled to open play on Tuesday, May 14 at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala., with first round men's tennis matches starting off the day at 9:00 a.m. CT. The women's side of the tournament will see first action at 1:00 p.m. CT on Tuesday afternoon. Both tournaments will consist of 24 teams from across the NAIA.

Championship Program

The first round for both men's and women's tennis will consist of eight team matches, with the winners of each match advancing to face the top eight seeds, all of which received BYE to the second round, on Wednesday, May 15. Eight teams will advance each day, with the championship set to commence at 1:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, May 18.

For the University of Mobile Men's and Women's Tennis teams, led by head coach Uwe Tittl, both teams earned host bids to this year's national tournament and will compete in first-round matches on Tuesday.

For the men's team at Mobile, the Rams earned the No. 16 seed and will face the 17th-seeded Mariners of Coastal Georgia on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. CT. Mobile enters with a 17-3 overall record and ranks No. 13 in the latest NAIA Men's Tennis Top 25 Coaches' Poll. The Rams are making their 16th appearance in the national tournament and holds a 3-15 overall tournament record. Meanwhile, Coastal Georgia sits at .500 on the season with an 8-8 overall record. 

The women's team at Mobile is scheduled to face the No. 11 seed of LSU-Alexandria (La.) at 1:00 p.m. CT on Tuesday, facing a team that the Rams battled to open the 2024 season. Mobile will be the No. 22 seed with a 14-6 overall record this year and ranks No. 24 in the latest NAIA Women's Tennis Top 25 Coaches' Poll. The appearance in this year's field is Mobile's 18th all-time, garnering a 4-17 overall tournament record. For LSU-A, the Generals opened the 2024 campaign ranked No. 7 and defeated Mobile 7-0 on Feb. 6. LSU-A enters with a 14-5 overall record this season.
