HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The University of Mobile Men's Basketball team secured a huge road victory on Thursday night, Feb. 20, defeating rival William Carey (Miss.) 75-73 in a thrilling conference matchup featuring two SSAC West teams.
The win keeps the Rams in control of their own destiny in the SSAC West Division, improving the overall record to 19-6 on the year and 12-4 in the conference. Mobile leads Faulkner (Ala.) by 0.5 games in the current standings, with the two teams scheduled to conclude the regular season against one another in a battle for first place on Saturday.
Game Summary
Mobile displayed an efficient offensive performance on Thursday, shooting 52.8% from the field and an impressive 50% from beyond the arc for three. The Rams took a 40-37 lead into halftime and held off a late surge from the Crusaders in the second half to claim the victory. Mobile relied on clutch free throws made by BJ Comer with three seconds remaining in regulation to seal the victory.
Ezra McKenna led the way for Mobile with a double-double, scoring 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting while grabbing 10 rebounds. Trent Moye provided a big boost from deep, knocking down four three-pointers en route to 18 points. Treylan Smith added 12 points and three assists, while Colin Howells chipped in eight points and four rebounds. For Comer, the starting point guard came away with six points and a team-high four steals.
Defensively, Mobile forced 18 turnovers, with Comer's four steals setting the tone of the game. Mobile managed 15 points off Crusader giveaways, while adding 28 points in the paint and 11 points on second chance opportunities. Mobile's bench finished with 10 points combined.

The Rams will return home for their final regular season game of the season and the final contest in Pharr Gymnasium this year. Mobile will host Faulkner on Feb. 22, scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CT. Saturday's game will be broadcasted live on the University of Mobile Sports Network.
