Mobile Wins Thriller Over UT-Southern

Rams Hold Off Firehawks in Big SSAC Matchup on Thursday

H. AUSTILL PHARR GYMNASIUM | MOBILE, Ala. - Pharr Gymnasium was the stage for an intense battle as the University of Mobile edged past Tennessee Southern with an 82-76 victory on Thursday, Feb. 6. The game showcased stellar performances from both teams, keeping fans on the edge of their seats until the final buzzer.

Mobile Secures Win Over UT-Southern

From the opening tip-off, both teams displayed relentless energy. Mobile took a narrow lead in the first quarter, 16-12, but Tennessee Southern responded with an explosive second quarter, outscoring Mobile 23-19 to tie the game at halftime. The second half saw an evenly matched contest, but Mobile maintained composure in the final minutes to secure the win.

Alanna Donaldson dominated with 26 points and seven rebounds, showing efficiency in the paint and mid-range game, while Braylee McMath was sharp from beyond the arc, hitting five threes in the game. McMath also contributed 26 points, while leading the defensive effort with five steals.

Mobile capitalized on a strong inside game, scoring 38 points in the paint compared to Tennessee Southern's 20. The rebounding battle was also in Mobile's favor, grabbing 47 total rebounds to Tennessee Southern's 26. Turnovers played a crucial role, with Mobile forcing 16 turnovers and converting them into 19 points.

Despite Tennessee Southern's outstanding three-point shooting (55%), Mobile's overall field goal efficiency (46.3%) and free-throw accuracy (78.9%) proved to be the difference-makers.
