Rams Earn First Win of the Season in Home Opener

Three different goal scorers lift Mobile past Spartanburg Methodist, 3-0

THE JUNGLE | MOBILE, Ala. – The University of Mobile men's soccer team treated the home crowd to a strong performance in their 2025 home opener, defeating Spartanburg Methodist College 3-0 on Monday, Sept. 1, at The Jungle. The win moves the Rams to 1-2-0 on the season.

The Rams applied heavy pressure throughout the first half, firing 12 shots but failing to find the breakthrough. Coming out of halftime, Mobile wasted little time to take control. In the 47th minute, Mateo Tempone rose above the defense to head home a corner kick delivered by Guido Solaro, giving the Rams a 1-0 lead.

Just five minutes later, Jeb Scarbrough doubled the advantage with a composed finish following a setup from Darlington Aboagye in the 52nd minute. Joe McMahon then sealed the victory in the 60th minute, winning the ball at the edge of the box and slotting home an unassisted strike to make it 3-0.

The Rams' defense held firm to secure the clean sheet, with freshman goalkeeper Tanner Boxberger earning the clean sheet in his first start as a Ram.

Up Next for the Rams

The Rams hit the road for their next match, facing Indiana Tech on Friday, Sept. 5, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m. CT.
