2026 Outdoor T&F Season Off to a Strong Start

School records fall through first three meets of outdoor season

MOBILE, AL - The 2026 Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field season in underway with three meets having come and gone for the Rams so far. Mobile opened things up at the South Alabama Invitational before competing at the LSU Opener and the Emory Spring Break Classic 2026 this past weekend. Through these first three meets, two Rams have already hit NAIA "B" standards while several others have come close to the same feat. In addition to the national marks, a few Rams have set their names in the school record books with school records being broken at every meet so far.

On the men's side, William McGough carried over his indoor form to the outdoor season, breaking the school record in the 100m event with a NAIA "B" standard time of 10.41 during the LSU Opener. During the Emory Spring Break Classic 2026, Joey Jones would break the sub-15 minute mark as he finished the 5000m with a final time of 14:56.35 to break William Kosgei's school record time of 15:04.72 set all the way back in 1999. Jones also broke his own outdoor 3000m record by 12 seconds, logging a time of 8:41.63 at this year's South Alabama Invitational. Jaileb Ballard tied Wes Egalite's school record in the 110m Hurdles event at the South Alabama Invitational with a 14.54 time. Elijah Gee broke Nicholas Spear's Pole Vault record at the South Alabama Invitational with a mark of 4.05m.

Meanwhile, Emily Wolf continues to write her name down in almost every throwing category having claimed many new school records during the indoor season. She has hit the NAIA "B" standard for both Hammer and Shot Put this season, with her marks of 51.25m (hammer) and 14.02m (shot put) both setting new school records.
