TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - For the second time during the 2022 regular season, the University of Mobile Volleyball team managed an impressive sweep over the Stillman College Tigers, winning 25-8, 25-7, and 25-18 across three sets. The Rams earned the sweep over Stillman on Friday night, Oct. 7 on the road in Tuscaloosa, Ala. and improved to 16-6 overall on the year, with the conference record advancing to 8-2.
Offense Shines on Friday Night
In Friday's win, Mobile hit the ball great as a team on the offensive side, recording a team hitting percentage just below .400 at .381. The Rams took 63 total attacks in the match, recording 32 kills and committing only eight errors across the three sets played. Meanwhile, Stillman's offense struggled against Mobile as the Tigers finished with a -.045 hitting line.
Seniors Aleah Kennedy and Abby Andrews led the way for Mobile in the box score, tallying seven kills each. Kennedy led Mobile with a phenomenal .700 hitting percentage. Tatum Beech led Mobile with 15 assists following kills, while Layton Adams finished with 10. As a team, Mobile only recorded 20 defensive digs as a unit.
Due to Mobile's early dominance across set one and set two, head coach Jon Campbell emptied his bench in the third set and played 20 total players throughout the match.
SSAC Game of the Week on Saturday
Mobile hits the road to Blue Mountain, Miss. on Friday night following the win over Stillman and will face Blue Mountain College in the SSAC Volleyball Game of the Week on Saturday, Oct. 8. Saturday's match features two of the top three teams in the current SSAC Volleyball standings.
