MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile Men's Basketball team played their final home game of the 2021-22 season in Pharr Gymnasium on Monday night, Feb. 7 with a conference game against Brewton-Parker College, a team that has only two wins on the season entering Monday. The Rams controlled the game from start to finish, never trailing the Barons and eventually winning the game, 80-57. Mobile's overall record moves to 12-15 on the season and 6-9 in SSAC action.
Logan Foutz and Gary Jefferson carried the Rams offensively in Monday's win as Foutz finished with a game-high 22 points, hitting six three-point shots in the game. Five of Foutz' six three-pointers were made in the second half as Foutz came out of halftime with a hot hand. Gary Jefferson finished with 19 points in the victory, while securing six rebounds and two steals. Jefferson shot 6-15 from the floor and was 5-6 from the free-throw line.
As a team, the Rams shot exactly 50% from the floor, making 28 of 56 shot attempts. Mobile's free-throw percentage improved over the last few games as well as the Rams put in a 72% free-throw mark, making 13 of 18 attempts. Both teams finished with 35 rebounds in the game as Mobile scored six second-chance points. DaMariee Jones was one basket shy of his third straight double-double in Mobile's win as he led all players with 13 rebounds. Jones finished with 8 points in the game and nabbed three offensive boards. The Mobile defense forced 16 Brewton-Parker turnovers, leading to 15 points off turnovers for the Rams.
Brewton-Parker and Mobile will square off again on Thursday, Feb. 10 in Mount Vernon, Ga. as the Rams look to make it three-straight wins. Thursday's game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT.
