Mobile Sweeps Stillman College at Jacobs Field

Rams Earn Three Wins, Seventh Walk-Off of the Season, in Weekend Sweep Over Stillman

MOBILE, Ala. - Coming off a series loss last weekend on the road, the University of Mobile Baseball team returned to Jacobs Field this weekend for a three-game conference series against Stillman College on Apr. 8-9. Mobile took the first two games of the series on Friday, and eventually defeated Stillman in the series finale on Saturday to earn the sweep and the team's 20th win of the season.


Game One Highlights (Fri. Apr. 8) - Stillman 4, Mobile 11 (7 Innings)
  • Mobile scored in four of six innings in game one, with the big inning coming in the fifth after the Rams put together a seven-run inning.
  • Stillman managed to out-hit Mobile 7-6, but the Rams worked 10 base-on-balls across the game.
  • Bailey Sellers pitched five three-hit innings for Mobile, earning his third win on the mound this year.
  • Lex Singleton finished 1-for-3 with a bases-clearing double and Trevor Wells collected three RBIs following a 1-for-2 game at the plate.
  • Trent Avery led all Rams with two hits in the victory.

Game Two Highlights (Fri. Apr. 8) - Stillman 5, Mobile 7 (10 Innings)
  • Christian Waltman blasted a two-run walk-off homer to win the game in the 10th inning, his sixth home run in the last three series.
  • The game two walk-off over Stillman is the seventh walk-off win for the Rams during the 2022 season.
  • Dalton Rone led the Rams with three hits and recorded two RBIs, while Jared Whittle finished 2-for-3 at the dish.
  • Haden Parker pitched a hitless 10th inning to earn his third win of the year.

Game Three Highlights (Sat. Apr. 9) - Stillman 4, Mobile 8 
  • Samuel Plash got the scoring started for Mobile with his team-leading 10th home run of the season in the second inning.
  • Mobile worked 13 walks as a team in the 8-4 victory over the Tigers.
  • The series finale win is Mobile's ninth-straight win over Stillman College.
  • Both Tucker Musgrove and Christian Waltman finished with two hits a piece.
  • The Mobile bullpen did not allow a run across six innings of work.
  • Caleb Coffey threw three one-hit innings from out of the bullpen to earn his second win of the season on the mound.


Following Mobile's sweep this weekend, the Rams improve to 20-14 on the season, while bringing their current conference record back to .500 at 9-9. Mobile will host non-conference opponent Freed-Hardeman University for the first time in history next weekend at Jacobs Field for a three-game series starting on Friday, Apr. 15 at 3:00 p.m. CT.
