University of Mobile Softball Earns Runner-Up Finish in NAIA Softball National Championship

Rams Fall to Oklahoma City in 2022 NAIA Softball World Series

SOUTH COMMONS SOFTBALL COMPLEX - COLUMBUS, Ga. - The hopes for a second national title in program history for the University of Mobile Softball team fell short on Wednesday, June 1 when the Rams fell to Oklahoma City University, 3-0. Entering Wednesday's action, Mobile needed two victories over the Stars on Wednesday to claim the 2022 NAIA Softball Red Banner, with Oklahoma City needing just one win over Mobile. The Stars came away victorious in game one to secure the national title over Mobile.

The runner-up finish for Mobile is the third in program history, joining the 2003 and 2008 teams. Mobile's lone national championship title came in 2006, as this year's appearance at the NAIA Softball World Series for the Rams marked the 21st time in program history.

Mobile finishes the 2022 season with a remarkable 52-4 overall record, the best season under fifth-year head coach Alison Sellers-Cook yet.
