HATTIESBURG, Miss. - There was not too much to be excited about for the University of Mobile Volleyball team on Thursday night, Oct. 19 as Mobile lost a favorable matchup in five sets to conference rival William Carey University (Miss.). Despite leading halfway through Thursday's matchup, Mobile allowed the Crusaders to storm back on their home floor and win the final two sets to secure a comeback victory. The loss for the Rams snaps a win streak of five matches and drops the overall record to 15-7. Meanwhile, the Rams' SSAC record moves backwards to 7-4 this season following Thursday's result.
Loss aside, Mobile found excitement in individual performances and saw two Rams put together career nights, highlighted by junior setter Layton Adams. Adams secured her 1,000th-career assist in the first set on Thursday, eventually ending the match with team-high 29 total assists, two shy of her career high. Through three seasons, Adams has recorded 1,018 assists as a setter, joining fellow setter Tatum Beech as current Rams in the 1,000 assists club. This season, Adams leads Mobile with 388 assists, averaging 5.8 assists per set.
Corrina Porch-Maxey joined Adams with success in Thursday's matchup with William Carey as the sophomore notched a new career-high in kills recorded in one match. Porch-Maxey led all players with 19 kills against the Crusaders, besting her previous high of 18 kills. Her 19 kills brings her total on the season to a team-high 252 this year, with Porch-Maxey averaging over three kills per set. She finished the loss with a .275 attack percentage.
Inside the Box Score

Mobile's Aleah Kennedy and Jordan Wood led the Rams with consistent offense on Thursday, with Kennedy hitting .429 with nine kills and Wood ending the match with a .278 attack percentage, tallying seven kills.

Saturday's match in New Orleans, La. is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. CT. The Wolf Pack swept Mobile in Pharr Gymnasium earlier in the season.
