UM Volleyball Drops SSAC Volleyball Game of the Week

Rams Fall in Four Sets to Loyola (La.) on Saturday

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The University of Mobile Volleyball team dropped their second-straight conference match on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 21, falling to Loyola University (La.) in the SSAC Volleyball Game of the Week. Saturday's match went four sets in the Big Easy, with Mobile securing a third-set victory to avoid a sweep and force a fourth set. However, the Wolf Pack of Loyola proved to be too strong in the end and handed Mobile the team's eighth loss of the season.

Mobile's overall record falls to 15-8 this year, while the conference record in the SSAC moves to 7-5 following Saturday's result.

Match Recap: Too Much Wolf Pack

Loyola opened the match on Saturday with a 25-23 set one win, following that with a convincing 25-10 set two victory. In the third set, the Rams responded with a 25-23 win to force another set, but were unable to defend the Wolf Pack attack and fell in the fourth, 25-19.

Loyola managed to hit .225 in the victory, tallying 49 total kills as a team. Mobile's offense struggled with consistency against the opposition, recording a meager .109 hitting line. The Rams recorded 43 kills on 138 attack attempts, committing 28 attack errors.

Kendel Lee Frazer had a strong showing on the offensive side, leading Mobile with 14 kills and hitting north of .320. However, Frazer became the only player on the Mobile roster to hit better than .300 as four players finished with a negative attack percentage.

Layton Adams managed a team-high 23 assists, adding seven digs, and Tatum Beech finished with 15 assists, sharing the team lead with 12 digs in the loss. Lexi Gillette joined Beech with 12 digs on Saturday, followed by Aspen Adams with 11.

Back to Work in a Week

Mobile will look to snap the small two-match skid against conference opponents next Saturday, Oct. 28 as the Rams travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for a favorable match against the Stillman College (Ala.) Tigers. Next Saturday's match in T-Town is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. CT.
