AUSTILL PHARR GYMNASIUM | MOBILE, Ala. - After taking two weeks off to celebrate the Christmas holiday, the University of Mobile Women's Basketball team was back in action on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 30 with a non-conference home game against Louisiana State University - Alexandria. Mobile and LSU-A met for the first time in history on Saturday, with the Rams of Mobile coming away with a 71-49 victory in the final non-conference game of the 2023-24 season.
The win for Mobile improves the overall record on the season to 13-2, while extending the current win streak to five games. Additionally, the 13th victory of the season for the Rams under first-year head coach Sydney Westry already matches last year's win total throughout the entire 2022-23 campaign.
Game Recap
LSU-A opened Saturday's came with momentum, recording several steals and putting together a 7-2 run through the first several minutes of the contest. Eventually, Mobile managed to tie the game in the latter part of the first quarter, but trailed the Generals 15-14 at the end of the quarter. In the second, Mobile's offense sparked for 23 points, while holding LSU-A to just 14 points. Following the strong second quarter, Mobile managed a 37-29 lead at halftime, with Lindi Debilzan hitting two late three-pointers in the final minute of the first half to extend Mobile's lead.
Coming out of halftime, Mobile's momentum continued throughout the third quarter as the Rams tallied 25 points during the first 10 minutes of the second half. Miriam Oldarcre recorded 11 points in the third quarter, eventually finishing Saturday with 13 total points and four rebounds. Mobile's defense held LSU-A to 16 points in the third, while allowing the Generals just four fourth-quarter points. The big third quarter and strong defensive effort in the fourth led Mobile to the 22-point win.
Inside the Box Score
Mobile finished Saturday with a 39% shooting mark, making 14 of 16 free throw attempts. In addition, the Rams knocked down seven three-pointers and recorded 23 points off 23 LSU-A turnovers. For the Generals, LSU-A shot 35% and managed just 34 rebounds. Mobile tallied 42 rebounds, with 14 of those being offensive boards.
Erica Jones led all players with 24 points in the win for Mobile, adding four rebounds and two steals. Miriam Oldarcre followed with her 13 points and Alanna Donaldson finished with eight points, six assists, and three steals. Three other Rams finished with at least six points each in the victory.

Mobile is set to return to action following New Year's Day, facing Middle Georgia State (Ga.) at home on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 4. Thursday's game against the Knights is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. CT.
