SSAC Names Latavia Jack as SSAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

Latavia Jack's Big Week Earns Her First-Career Conference Athlete of the Week Honor

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Latavia Jack of the University of Mobile Women's Outdoor Track & Field program was named SSAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday, Mar. 28. The award is based on performance for the week of March 20-26.

Latavia Jack managed to qualify for the 2023 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in multiple events at the Mississippi State Bulldog Relays over the weekend, earning two individual qualifying marks and one as a four-member team. She recorded two school records in the process. Jack's time of 11.70 seconds in the women's 100 meters event is a new program record, with her later recording a school record in the women's 4x100 relay event with a time of 46.53 seconds. Jack teams with Myla Edwards, Samantha Mansur, and Jerenie Jackson in the event. Additionally, Jack qualified for the women's 200 meters with a time of 24.31 seconds, booking her trip to Marian, Ind. for three different events at NAIA Nationals.

  • This is her first-career outdoor honor.
  • Jack hit NAIA "A" qualifying standards in three events at the 2023 Bulldog Relays, doing so in the 100m (11.70), 200m (24.31) and 4x100m Relay (46.53).
  • Her 100m mark leads the NAIA, her 4x100m mark is second-best in the NAIA and her 200m mark ranks fourth in the country.
  • Jack is the lone member of the UM Outdoor Track and Field program to have qualified for three events thus far this season.
