MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The University of Mobile Women's Soccer team put together not one, but two comebacks in an SSAC matchup against Faulkner University (Ala.) on Thursday evening, Oct. 18, eventually defeating the Eagles 4-2 in Montgomery, Ala. The victory puts Mobile back in the win column after the Rams finished last weekend 0-1-1 on the road against Dalton State College (Ga.) and No. 6 Life University (Ga.), and improves the overall record to 7-4-2 on the year. Additionally, Mobile's SSAC record improves to 5-2-1 this season, with the Rams currently sitting fourth in the SSAC Women's Soccer standings.
Rams Score Three in Final 45
Faulkner led on two different occasions against Mobile on Thursday, opening the scoring in the 24 minute of the matchup. Mobile managed to respond quickly as Andi Hughes notched her sixth goal of the year just two minutes later. Kaitlyn Skrove earned the assist on Hughes' goal. However, Faulkner added one more goal in the first half to lead 2-1 at the halftime break. Faulkner's go-ahead goal came in the 34th minute. Despite trailing by one, Mobile took six total shots in the first half, while Faulkner only recorded four.
In the second half, Raegan Latiolais tied things at two goals a piece with her sixth goal of the season, coming in the 52nd minute. Ashlyn Broussard picked up the assist on the equalizing goal. Mobile then took the lead in the 75th minute as Andi Hughes tallied her second goal of the match following another assist from Broussard. From there, the Rams never looked back and added an insurance goal in the 84th minute. Latiolais put in Mobile's fourth goal of the night as both her and Hughes finished Thursday with two goals a piece. The two currently lead Mobile with seven goals this season. Lindsey Meza and Trinity Barden earned a double-assist on the Rams' final goal.
Overall, Mobile took 16 shots in the win, with half of those shots being recorded on target. Three of Mobile's four goals came following throw-ins as the Rams totaled 13 points as a team following the four-goal, five-assist team performance. Meanwhile, Faulkner took 10 shots, only scoring twice, and saw Mobile starting goalkeeper Ebba Elweroth collect one save. Only three of Faulkner's shots were recorded on goal.
Back Home for Senior Day on Saturday
Following the win, Mobile is set to return home to the Jungle for a conference match against Point University (Ga.) on Saturday, Oct. 19. Saturday's match is set for 1:30 p.m. CT and will be Senior Day as the final Saturday home match of the regular season.
