KINGSPORT, Tenn. - One day after the University of Mobile Men's Basketball team rolled to a 82-64 victory over Bluefield (Va.) to begin action at the annual NAIA The Show tournament in Tennessee, the Rams fell to Columbia International University (S.C.) 82-74 to finish the weekend with a 1-1 showing. The loss for 18th-ranked Mobile drops the overall record to 7-2 this season with conference play scheduled to pick back up next week. Meanwhile, Columbia International improves to an impressive 9-1 on the year following the victory over Mobile.
How It Happened
Mobile trailed 47-30 at halftime and fought hard in the second half, outscoring CIU 44-35, but could not overcome the early deficit. Mobile finished shooting 45.9% from the field in the defeat, making eight three-pointers and just 10 free throws on 15 attempts.
Key players for Mobile included Jarvis Moss, who led the team with career-high 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting, including three three-pointers. Moss played 20 minutes from off the bench and was just one of two Rams to record a double-digit scoring day. BJ Comer was the other Ram to finish in double digits, contributing 14 points and two steals. Like Moss, Comer checked in from off the bench, playing 24 minutes. Ezra McKenna was held to just nine points and a team-high nine rebounds against CIU, missing out on his ninth consecutive double-double to begin the season.
CIU capitalized on efficient shooting on Saturday, hitting 58.9% of their field goals and 50% of their three-point attempts. Both teams secured 32 rebounds each, while Mobile committed two more turnovers (10) than CIU.

Mobile is scheduled for two conference road games next weekend, starting off with a game against Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. CT. Following that, the Rams will take on UT-Southern (Tenn.) in Pulaski, Tenn. on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2:00 p.m. CT.
Mobile's next home game in Pharr Gymnasium is not until Dec. 14 and is the only home game for the month of December.
