NAIA Men's Soccer Quarterfinals to Begin on Thursday; Rams Face William Penn for Spot in Semifinals

University of Mobile Men's Soccer Battles William Penn in NAIA Quarterfinals

WICHITA, Kan. [Championship Bracket | Final Site Schedule | Watch Live | Live Stats] - Quarterfinal action of the 66th Annual NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship kicks off on Thursday, Dec. 5 in Wichita, Kan., with the University of Mobile Men's Soccer team being one of the eight teams remaining in the Battle for the Red Banner. 

Mobile defeated Oklahoma City 2-0 in the Round of 16 to advance to the Quarterfinals, where the Rams will meet the No. 3 seed of William Penn University (Iowa) at 7:00 p.m. CT on Thursday. William Penn (18-2-3) knocked off 2022 NAIA Men's Soccer National Champion Bethel University (Ind.) to advance to the quarterfinal round this year. No. 6 seed Mobile, with an 18-3-1 overall record, will look for revenge over the Statesmen of William Penn after William Penn defeated Mobile 4-0 in the first and only match played in history between the two programs during the 2023 season. 

Mobile averages 3.09 goals per match during the 2024 campaign, led by Emilio Cazares with 23 goals and Joseph McMahon with 17 scores. As a team, the Rams manage just over 17 shots per game and have tallied a .180 shot percentage. Defensively, Mobile allows under one goal per match and are anchored by senior goalkeeper Ty Turner, who has recorded 10 shutouts in 21 starts in net, allowing only 15 goals total this year. Turner has 50 saves this season with a .769 save percentage. 

For William Penn, the Statesmen are led by Hugo Cornish with 11 goals and average 2.65 goals per match this year. In net, William Penn is guided by Sean Bohan with 50 saves in 18 starts, recording a .794 save percentage. 

Thursday's quarterfinal match will be played at the Scheels Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita and all matches of the 2024 NAIA Men's Soccer Championship will be broadcasted for FREE on Urban Edge Network and the newly redesigned NAIA Network. This includes the championship match and the awards presentation. Fans can watch their favorite team from anywhere in the world.
