Men's Golf Begins Season with Individual Tournament in Gulfport

Rams Take Part in Individual Tourney to Open Season; Aidan Farmer Finishes Tied for First Overall

GULFPORT, Miss. - The University of Mobile Men's Golf team saw action for the first time during the 2024-25 campaign on Tuesday, Sept. 17, competing at the Gulf Shootout in Gulfport, Miss. The one-round tournament was a scheduled individual tournament featuring three teams, including Mobile, Spring Hill (Ala.), and host-team Loyola (La.).

The Rams, led by 10th-year head coach TJ Jackson, found success across the 18-hole shootout, seeing four players crack the top five following play. Additionally, junior Aidan Farmer highlighted Mobile's performers by finishing tied for first overall with a 74 (+2), tying with Loyola's Preston Giroir for the top spot. There was not a playoff to decide a sole winner. Farmer picked up a birdie in two shots on the eighth hole at the Windance Country Club for his best hole of the round.

In total, 33 individual entrants played in Tuesday's 18-hole tournament, with all three teams seeing four players place within the top 10. Mobile paced the field with four in the top five.
