Bench Shows Out for Mobile; Moss Records New Career-High
Mobile established dominance early, making 15 shots from the floor and holding Point to a sub-32% shooting mark in the first half. The Rams went into halftime leading 35-25 thanks to the aggressive defense and efficient offense. In the second half, Mobile continued to roll and maintained control throughout the majority of the half, with the largest lead of the day sitting at 24 points with just over seven minutes remaining in regulation. However, Point did manage a run late that cut the deficit to 10 points, but Mobile's early dominance proved to be too much for the Skyhawks as the Rams captured the victory.
As a team, Mobile finished shooting 40% from the field and 34.8% (8-of-23) from three-point range. After a staggering 21-turnover game just two nights prior, the Rams cleaned up the mistakes in less than 48 hours and committed only three turnovers against Point on Saturday. Meanwhile, Mobile forced nine turnovers on Point's side, leading to 13 points off giveaways. Mobile out-rebounded the Skyhawks by five, grabbing 40 total boards in the win.
Jarvis Moss led the Rams on Saturday, with the second-year Ram recording a career-high 25 points off an 8-for-14 shooting line. Moss played just 22 minutes from off the bench, tallying five made three-pointers and four successful free-throw attempts. His previous high came earlier in the year where he tallied 23 points against Columbia International (S.C.). Additionally, Moss was responsible for Mobile's only two blocks in the game.
Freshman Zion Hunter joined Moss with success from off the bench, finishing with 13 points and eight rebounds in 21 minutes of playing time. He managed a 5-for-6 shooting performance, adding one three-pointer and two made free throws. Starter Ezra McKenna joined the pair of bench players in double figures, notching his 12th double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. McKenna played just 25 minutes.
Overall, the Mobile bench combined for 48 points and 21 rebounds on Saturday, helping keep the current winning streak alive. For Point, the Skyhawks saw just six points scored from off the bench.
