Women's Tennis Secures First Win of 2025 Season

Rams Claim Victory in Home Opener

GERALD WALLACE TENNIS CENTER | MOBILE, Ala. - After a tough 0-3 start to the 2025 season, the University of Mobile Women's Tennis team responded nicely with a victory in the home opener, defeating Tuskegee University (Ala.), 5-2.

Mobile began the year at the SSAC / SUN / AAC Crossover Challenge on Feb. 6-8, falling in all three matches against ranked opponents. Since then, the Rams turned their sights towards the home opening match on Feb. 22, coming away with a big victory over NCAA D-II Tuskegee.

In doubles play, Mobile clinched wins from the second and third flights of the lineup with sophomore Caroline Johnson and newcomer Katharina Bopst scoring a 6-4 win in No. 2 doubles. Mobile managed a DEFAULT win from the third-seeded doubles match to earn the all-important doubles point.

Needing just three singles victories to secure the match, Mobile came away with wins from No. 1, 4, 5, and 6 singles to win it, with Bopst clinching the victory for the Rams. Bopst won from No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-0, while Caroline Johnson came away with a 6-3, 6-1 win from the fifth-seeded singles match. From the top seed, Karolina Mrowiecova dominated with a 6-0, 6-1 win. Mobile earned yet another DEFAULT win from the sixth flight.

Crosstown Rival On Deck

Mobile will return to action next Wednesday, Feb. 26 at the Mobile Tennis Center, facing off with rival Spring Hill College (Ala.). Wednesday's match is set for 12:00 p.m. CT.
