Alachua County Sports & Events Center | Gainesville, Fla. - Junior Joey Jones made history once again for the University of Mobile on Friday, February 28th, at the NAIA Men's Indoor Track and Field National Championship, breaking the school record in the 3000m race.
Jones clocked an impressive time of 8:34.55, surpassing the previous program best of 8:35.46 set by Jones earlier this season in the Celebration Pointe Classic. His time was good enough to place 16th in the prelims for the event, but unfortunately he missed the cutoff to advance to the finals. Jones concludes his Indoor Track and Field season having broken the school record in the 3000m event twice as well as winning gold in the same event at the SSAC Indoor Conference Championship.
The Mobile Track and Field Program will now turn its attention towards the approaching outdoor season with the Rams scheduled to compete at the University of South Alabama Jaguar Invitational on Friday, March 14th through Saturday, March 15th.
