JACOBS FIELD | MOBILE, Ala. - On Tuesday afternoon, the University of Mobile baseball team faced off against Tuskegee University for the first time in program history. The Rams would make the most of the occasion as they would earn a run rule victory over the Golden Tigers in seven innings to move to 16-10 on the season.
Rams Offense Puts on a Show
For Mobile, they got things going early on scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the first before adding on another 8 runs in the third. Tuskegee would get 3 runs back between the fourth and fifth innings, but the runs would stop there for the Golden Tigers. The Rams would go on to add another 5 runs in the sixth inning to put the run rule back in to effect. Senior left fielder Bryce Eddington had a great day at the plate for Mobile recording 2 runs, 2 hits and 3 RBIs. Kline Smith entered the game late on and scored the final run of the game with a solo homerun to the scoreboard in left field. As a team, Mobile recorded 12 hits in the outing alongside 11 walks which helped contribute to the 16-3 win.
Up Next for the Rams
This upcoming weekend, the University of Mobile baseball team will face off against the #11 Wolfpack of Loyola University (La.) in a home series over March 14-15. The visitors are 19-5 overall with a 7-2 record in conference play heading into the series while the Rams are 5-4 in conference play this season. Game one on Friday is scheduled to start at 6:00pm CT while the Saturday doubleheader has a scheduled start time of 1:00pm CT.
