Mobile Tennis Teams go 4-0 Against Doane

Men's and Women's Tennis put on Strong Performances in Front of Home Crowd

Gerald L. Wallace Tennis Center | Mobile, Ala. - For the second time in two years, the University of Mobile men's and women's tennis teams faced off against the Tigers of Doane University at home. Both teams defended their perfect records against the Tigers with both Mobile teams collecting two wins on the day.

Men's Tennis

Match one ended 6-1 in favor of the Rams with only the one seed in singles and doubles dropping their matches. Doubles pairing Sergio Ruiz Ramiro and Santiago Reina collected a 6-0 win in the three seed while Juan Arias and Luis Perez won 6-2 from the two seed to give Mobile the doubles point. The two through six seeds for Mobile all picked up wins while the four seed of Sergio Ruiz Ramiro earned the clinching point for his team, winning his match 6-0, 6-1.

The Rams performed even better in match two, winning 7-0. All three doubles pairings would win for Mobile while Leon Finke would earn the winning point from the two seed, winning his singles match 6-3, 6-1. The one seed of Martin Jeanne went three sets, winning 6-3, 5-7, 10-8.

Women's Tennis

The women's team would pick up a 6-1 win in both matches. In game one, Mobile would pick up the doubles point after the two and three seeds won their matches. Caroline Johnson won her singles match 6-3, 6-0 from the five seed while Rachel McMullan scored the clinching point from the six seed winning 6-1, 6-0 in her match.

In match two, the doubles pairings of Katharina Bopst/Caroline Johnson and Jill Hellerforth/Rachel McMullan both won 6-1 to claim the doubles point. The two through six seeds would again win for Mobile in the singles matches with Katharina Bopst clinching from the two seed having won her match 6-3, 6-4.

Up Next for the Rams

The Rams compete at home once again as they take on Bethel University (TN) at 12:00pm CT on Wednesday, March 12 at the Gerald L. Wallace Tennis Center at the University of Mobile.
