MOBILE, Ala. – The University of Mobile Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Kyra Plotner as the new interim head coach for the men's and women's golf programs.
A former standout for the UM women's golf team, Plotner played for the Rams from 2015-2018. She returned to the University of Mobile for the 2021-2022 season as the graduate assistant for both the men's and women's teams, where she worked closely with Mobile student-athletes and staff for three seasons. She now steps into the head coaching role with firsthand knowledge of the program and a strong vision for its continued growth.
During her playing career with the Rams, Plotner earned SSAC All-Conference honors and was named to the SSAC All-Freshman Team in 2015. She was also recognized as the SSAC Women's Golf Player of the Week twice during the 2017-2018 season. Her experience as both a student-athlete and coach provides valuable insight into the demands of collegiate golf.
"We are excited to have Kyra back at the University of Mobile at the helm of the golf program" said Sally Shouppe, athletic director. "She brings a wealth of knowledge of the game and of UM. We are excited to see where she takes the program and builds on past success."
Plotner brings experience, continuity, and passion for the game of golf, along with a desire to grow the Rams' presence in the SSAC. She will begin her duties immediately as the Rams prepare for the upcoming 2025-26 golf season.
