Men's and Women's Cross Country Grab Top 4 Finishes in Season Opener

Both teams start off season at Mississippi College Opener

CLINTON, Miss. - The University of Mobile Cross Country programs kicked off the 2025 season at the Mississippi College Opener, held at Choctaw Trails on Friday afternoon. Both team's would pick up top 4 finishes in the meet, signaling a strong start to the season.

The men's team placed 2nd in the meet with a total of 86 points. The Rams finished ahead of SSAC rivals Loyola University and William Carey who finished 3rd and 4th respectively. Senior Joey Jones led the team with his 5th place finish which was also the best finish of all NAIA runners.

It was a 4th place finish for the women's team as they totaled 148 points. There were just 2 points separating the Rams and the Wolfpack of Loyola who placed 3rd with 146 points. Junior Claire Atkins led the pace for her side as she ran a 20:32.5 which landed her 18th in the meet.

Up Next for the Rams

The Rams will take on their next meet on Friday, September 12th, when they compete in the Montevallo Falcon Classic held in Montevallo, Alabama.
