Box Score MOBILE, Ala. - The 2021 season has been a struggle thus far for the University of Mobile Women's Soccer team and those struggles continued in Thursday's conference opening match against Dalton State. Dalton State entered Thursday's match with a 4-5 record as Mobile entered with a 0-7-1 record, dropping seven straight after the season-opening tie against LSU-Shreveport. On Thursday, the Roadrunners managed to hand Mobile their eighth-straight loss after winning, 4-0.
Mobile came out strong early in the first half, pinning Dalton State in their own territory for the majority of the first 25 minutes. However, late in the first half Dalton State managed to score two goals to go up two scores at the break. In the second half, Dalton State kept that momentum and put up two more early goals in the second half. From there, the Roadrunners took the victory.
Luck was not on the Rams' side as Mobile had several opportunities to score in the match, including a penalty kick attempt from Anakah Madril that resulted in a save from the Dalton State goalkeeper. Mobile out-shot the Roadrunners 16-13 with 13 of their shots taken in the second half. Just three of the Rams' shots were on-goal, however.
Mobile will face Faulkner University on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 2 at 1:30 p.m. CT for homecoming at the University of Mobile. In front of what's expected to be a very large crowd, Mobile Head Coach Brian Person hopes that his team will earn their first victory of the season on Saturday. Faulkner is coming off a big loss to No. 1 William Carey and could find it difficult to recover in just two days.
