Box Score 2 COCHRAN, Ga. - The University of Mobile Women's Soccer team is coming off their first win of the 2021 season, a 4-1 conference victory at home over Faulkner University on Saturday, Oct. 2. Mobile then traveled to Mount Vernon, Ga. for a conference match against Brewton-Parker College on Saturday, Oct. 9 and fell to Barons, 5-0. Following the loss to Brewton-Parker, Mobile traveled to Cochran, Ga. on Monday, Oct. 11 for another conference match, this time against Middle Georgia State University and lost to the Knights 4-2 on Monday afternoon.

In Saturday's loss to Brewton-Parker, Mobile out-shot the Barons, 18-15 with 13 shots being on-goal. However, the Rams were unable to notch a goal. Maria Eduards Rocha Bento led Mobile with eight shots taken in the match with all eight being on-goal. 12 of the Barons' 15 shots were on-goal, including the five that went in.
Mobile goalkeeper Leia Carter was awarded her second-career start with Mobile on Saturday against the Barons. Carter is coming off a win in Mobile's lone victory of the season against Faulkner on Oct. 2 where she recorded two saves. Carter recorded seven saves and allowed five goals to Brewton-Parker on Saturday.

On Monday afternoon, Mobile struggled offensively against Middle Georgia State and only managed to take seven shots. Four of Mobile's seven shots were on-goal and two went in late in the second half. Middle Georgia State took 21 shots in the match and 14 were on-goal.
After trailing 4-0 for the majority of the match, Mobile hit the scoreboard in the 60th minute off a goal for Elke Fernandez. Fernandez's goal is just the second of the season for the striker out of Spain. She led the team in goals scored in her first season with Mobile last year. 12 minutes later, Mobile defender Agnes Back cut Middle Georgia State's deficit in half with her first goal of the year.
However, there was not enough time for the Rams to mount a comeback as Mobile fell, 4-2.
With two losses on the weekend in Georgia, Mobile's overall record falls to 1-10-1 on the season and 1-3 in conference play. Next on the schedule, Mobile will host Georgia Gwinnett College for a non-conference match on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 7:00 p.m. CT.
