Box Score NEW ORLEANS, La. - The University of Mobile Volleyball team fell to conference opponent Loyola University of New Orleans on Saturday night, Oct. 2 in five sets for their second-straight conference loss of the season. Mobile fell to conference rival William Carey in four sets back on Tuesday, Sept 28 in Hattiesburg, Miss. Mobile loss the five-set match to Loyola on Saturday in New Orleans, 26-24, 16-25, 25-21, 23-25, 12-15 as their overall season record drops to 13-3 and 4-2 in conference play.
In Saturday's loss, the Rams struggled offensively again, making it the fifth-straight match where Mobile has recorded a sub .200 team hitting percentage. The Rams managed to only hit .143 on the night, led by Aleah Kennedy who hit .353 with eight kills and Rachel Hart who hit .350 with seven kills. Freshman Kiara Garrett led the Rams with 17 total kills, but saw her hitting percentage finish sub .100.
Defensively, Rachel Hart was a force at the net. The senior middle blocker recorded seven solo blocks and three block assists in the loss and nine solo blocks and 10 block assists on the week. Hart's blocking totals on the week will give her a solid chance at the SSAC Volleyball Defender of the Week honor. Libero Melea Meadows led the Rams in defensive digs with 24.
Sarah Warren led the team in assists once more, recording 42 assists in Saturday's loss to the Wolf Pack. Warren tallied 65 assists on the week.
Mobile will hope to rebound from back-to-back losses as they return home for a conference match against Faulkner University on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 7:00 p.m. CT.
