COPELAND, HERNDON NAMED TO CONFERENCE SCHOLAR-ATHLETE TEAM; COPELAND EARNS SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR HONOR
MONTGOMERY, Ala. –The 2021 Barnes & Noble College Competitive Cheer Scholar-Athlete Team and Scholar-Athlete of the Year were released Wednesday, Mar. 31 by the Southern States Athletic Conference.
Mobile's Maggie Copeland (JR/Saraland, Ala) headlines the honorary squad as the 2021 Barnes & Noble College Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She posted a 3.59 GPA as a nursing major in the classroom and was named SSAC Best All-Around Female and Honorable Mention NAIA All-American on the mat this season.
Joining Copeland on the SSAC Scholar-Athlete Team is Aleigh Herndon (SR/Foley, Ala.). Herndon is a business and intergrated marketing and communications major and joins Copeland in being a two-time SSAC All-Academic Team selection and is a two-time NAIA Competitive Cheer National Championship qualifier.

- To be eligible, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above in both academic and athletic standing, must be starters or important reserves, have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA and have competed in 50% of competitions.
- Warnock boasts the highest GPA of the group with a 3.89 GPA as an elementary education major.
- Reid joined Copeland as an All-Conference selection to go along with a 3.59 GPA as a psychological science major.
