Box Score HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The University of Mobile Men's Soccer team defeated Lyon College, 3-2 on Monday afternoon in Hattiesburg, Miss. Unranked Lyon College managed to keep the match close with No. 18 Mobile and fought until the final minutes of the match, bidding for an upset over the Rams. However, Mobile's defense was too much for the Scots as the Rams came away with the win. With the win on Monday, Mobile has now won three-straight and advances their overall record to 4-1.
Lyon College struck first in the 16th minute of the match, but the Rams answered back in the 23rd minute with a penalty kick goal from Alejo Binaghi. Prior to Monday afternoon's match, Binaghi was named the SSAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week prior. Binaghi is tied for the team lead in goals scored this season with three.
Just four minutes after Binaghi's goal, Zacharia Hasler scored his second goal of the season to put the Rams out front. With the lead in favor of Mobile at 3-1, the Scots made things interesting in the 69th minute with their second goal. From there, it was up to the Mobile defense to halt Lyon's momentum until the end of the match. Despite several chances late for Lyon, Mobile held off Lyon and took the match victory.
